Random thoughts thanks to a gigantic iced coffee
I bought a HUGE iced coffee on the way home (at 6 PM) and I'm still drinking it at 10 PM. Needless to say, I'm pretty wound up, so I don't think I'll be getting to bed anytime soon. I just wasn't thinking...
Music-wise, I cannot get enough of Brandi Carlile lately. I bought her latest cd The Story a while ago, and it has not left my cd player. Ohmygawd, this woman has talent. What a voice. Such raw emotion. I want to pick up her previous cd this Friday when I get out of work. Plus, she has a couple of independently released cds that I'll try to find on eBay or Amazon. I'm SO EXCITED about her upcoming concert in Burlington, VT on October 7. I bought tickets today. Lordy.
Work is going ok. Had my second evaluation today. It went fine. I'm getting so antsy again. I know that this is NOT the job I want to do forever. But, I don't know what I really want to do. And I feel like time is just slipping away so quickly. Sometimes I wish that I could go back to my 20s, ditch my material possessions and spend awhile backpacking around the world. Being an "adult" really blows sometimes. Our culture here is to work work work, typically at a job that we don't really love, make the money to pay the bills and let too much of life pass us by. There's a quote that perfectly sums up what i mean:

Work like crazy doing something you're not passionate about so you can accumulate enough money to pay the bills from your stress-caused illnesses while you complain about what you should have done while you were still young."
Exactly. Sorry, but I don't know who the author is for this oh-so-true quote. I read it somewhere and had to immediately write it in my journal.
